The journey from the airport to Mestre or Piazzale Roma takes around 50-70 minutes. Depending on what time of year you are, the period may be slightly longer or shorter. We drove early in the morning and arrived 15 minutes early, but you’d better expect a journey time of around 1 hour.

1. ATVO buses

ATVO buses are our most popular option to get from Treviso Airport to Mestre and Venice. The carrier connects Treviso Airport with the bus station in Mestre and Piazzale Roma in Venice.

ATVO buses at Treviso Airport

Buses run frequently and regularly from morning to evening – times vary depending on the day of the week. Treviso Airport is not as busy and bus services are scheduled according to departures and arrivals. Here you will find the current timetables.

A one-way ticket costs EUR 12, and a return ticket costs EUR 22. Children under 4 years travel free of charge. The buses are comfortable, air-conditioned including wifi and offer plenty of storage space for luggage.

We used ATVO buses on the way back to the airport. If you buy your ticket through this link like we did, just show it to a staff member before entering the bus and you can go right in.

If you buy your ticket on the spot, you will need to check it at the ticket machine before boarding.

You buy a ticket for a day, not for an hour, i.e. you can take any train on any given day. The price is the same.

If you go as far as Piazzale Roma, the bus will stop at the same place as the ATVO stop. From here you will go back to the airport. There are stops for Treviso Airport and Marco Polo Airport right next to each other. Everything is marked.

From Piazzale Roma you can take a vaporetto (water bus) to get you exactly to your destination in Venice, as there are many water buses leaving from there. Piazzale Roma is also within easy walking distance of the centre of Venice, or you can stay close to Piazzale Roma.

2. Barzi Service

The other bus service between Treviso Airport and the suburbs of Mestre and Venice is the Barzi Service. Like ATVO buses, this carrier stops at the Mestre bus station. On the other hand, it won’t take you all the way to Piazzale Roma – the buses end in Tronchetto, from where you can take the People Mover to Piazzale Roma (one journey for €1.50) or the water bus No. 2.

Bus services for Barzi Service are less frequent than for ATVO – you can find timetables here. A one-way ticket costs €10 and a return ticket €18 (children under 10 travel free). If you take the People Mover to Piazzale Roma, you also need to add €1.50 per journey.

Taxi or private transfer

Taxis are available outside the arrivals area of the airport. You cannot miss them because they are clearly marked.

The cost of a taxi or private transfer is significantly higher than a bus or train. They range from €60 to €100 depending on the company, time of day and number of passengers.
