High Tatras<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/smilingway.cz\/en\/hikes-high-tatras-slovakia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tatra Mountains <\/a>are the highest mountains of the Carpathian arch stretching from Moravia, through Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania and Serbia. It is divided into the more touristic Eastern Tatras and the much quieter Western Tatras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eastern Tatras<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tatras offer everything. Approximately 400 metres lower than its eastern sister. What they weren&#8217;t gifted in height, they chase with their beautiful ridge routes. Keep in mind that you can&#8217;t get everywhere all year round. A number of routes are closed from November to June &#8211; in 2024 the closure applies from 1st November to 31th May.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tatransk\u00e1 magistr\u00e1la is open all year round and although it does not lead over the peaks, you can enjoy the beautiful views to the fullest. The views from here are magnificent to the north side of the Tatras and to Poland. The route starts at the tourist cottage Slan\u00e1 voda, where there is a free parking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From here you will follow the yellow trail &#8211; you will have an easy climb at the beginning, then you will start to climb more steeply to the top. You can take the ridge back over Mala Babia hora on the red trail and from there continue back to Slana Voda. Allow about 3-3.5 hours for the ascent. There are no refreshment options along the way.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pilsko<\/strong> is the second highest peak of the Orava Beskydy with a height of 1,557 metres. And once again you will enjoy fantastic views from here. There are several marked trails leading to the top &#8211; I recommend choosing the route from the Hliny saddle right on the border with Poland, where there is a free parking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From there you will follow the ridge trail, where you will ascend gently to the top of Pilsko in about 2-2.5 hours. The biggest attraction in the Orava region is the <strong>statue of Jesus Rio de Klin<\/strong>, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Orava Dam and the Tatra Mountains. The nearest car park is less than a kilometre below the statue, from where you just walk up the hill.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further south in the Oravsk\u00e1 Magura mountain range you can follow the <strong>ridge route around the Min\u010dol and Kub\u00ednsk\u00e1 ho\u013ea peaks<\/strong>. Cho\u010dsk\u00e9 vrchy &#8211; the best mountains in Slovakia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cho\u010dsk\u00e9 vrchy are a small but imposing limestone mountain range located between the Mala Fatra and Tatra mountains.<\/strong>  It is bordered to the north by the Orava region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the Cho\u010dsk\u00e9 vrchy mountains are not large, they are definitely worth a visit. This is evidenced by the fact that in the past they were considered for inclusion in the national parks (which was eventually abandoned due to the size of the Cho\u010d Hills). The views from here are fantastic &#8211; you can see the mountains in all directions from the Low Tatras, the Tatras to Mal\u00e1 Fatra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can reach the top from several villages in the area &#8211; L\u00fa\u010dky, Valask\u00e1 Dubov\u00e1 or Vy\u0161n\u00fd Kub\u00edn. The shortest route leads from the village of Valask\u00e1 Dubov\u00e1 (count about 2.5 hours for the ascent and an elevation gain of almost 1000 metres). Both can be beautifully walked in one day hike, which even children can manage. There are some ladders along the way, and there are some unsafe sections, but otherwise the path is easily passable. For swimming you can go to the <strong>thermal swimming pool in Kalameny<\/strong>, where you can warm up thanks to the temperature of 33 degrees Celsius all year round. Admission is free, parking is paid.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mineral springs and thermals<\/strong> are typical for the Cho\u010d Hills. You can go for example to the spa L\u00fa\u010dky or Be\u0161e\u0148ov\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"kam-na-hory-na-slovensku-nizke-tatry\">4. Low Tatras<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you say mountains in Slovakia, most people think of <a href=\"https:\/\/smilingway.cz\/en\/hikes-high-tatras-slovakia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">High Tatras<\/a>. In addition to the beautiful nature, you can also see semi-wild free grazing horses.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From Ve\u013ek\u00e1 L\u00faka, continue along the red Rudn\u00e1 magistr\u00e1la, which will lead you to a viewpoint from where you will have the Mur\u00e1nsk\u00e9 Plateau in the palm of your hand together with the opposite Mur\u00e1n Castle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From Ve\u013ek\u00e1 L\u00faka or from the village of Mur\u00e1\u0148 there is a nature trail leading to the ruins of Mur\u00e1\u0148 Castle.
