Sagrada Familia

Sagrada Familia cannot be missing on any list and is among the best activities to do in Barcelona with children. In addition, children up to their 11th birthday are admitted free of charge.

The architect Gaudí was known for taking inspiration from nature in his designs. And that’s why children of all ages will love this place. As soon as you walk in, you will feel like you are in a forest…with colored lights intertwining every corner of the basilica.

You can take the glass elevator up to the tower (only with children over 6 years old) and enjoy another great spectacle from there. From here you can reach the entrance to the park in about 15-20 minutes. The stairs to Baixada de la Glòria at Vallcarca stop are now out of order.

Buses 24 and 92 stop near Park Güell. It can be found on La Rambla, the main pedestrian street. It is very touristy, but still worth a visit. If you come in the morning, you can avoid the biggest crowds. You can buy food from local farmers and eat well here.

In Barcelona, it is common to dine between 21:00-23:00. Fortunately, there are plenty of places to eat earlier. The best choice with children are restaurants near smaller squares, where there is usually a small park (often with a playground). Children can play in the park while you prepare your food.

tapas

For tips on traditional food in Barcelona, see our guide to Barcelona, and for tips on great restaurants, see our 3 day itinerary for Barcelona.

And what can you enjoy in Barcelona with children? Try tapas, which can be eaten in many ways. Many places also serve pizza by the slice or stuffed empanadas, which are a great option for kids.

When visiting Barcelona with children, you must also try churros and Spanish hot chocolate.
